More May

I keep telling myself that one day I will not feel like I have to post every single thing we do.

I will quit these monthly recaps and just hit like the 2 highlights of the month...keep the blog more manageable and easier to do in real time.
But, I just can't quit!

I love reminiscing and remembering what all we have done as a family. And there is inevitably something special that hasn't made the blog yet that I want to post!

Like a visit from some of our VERY favorite people!
Jen Fogle and kids were in town for only one night before their family vacation, and we just monopolized their time.
We had a visit to Chuck E Cheese and made them come to the house to see the chicks and kept them up past bedtime on a school night because we just couldn't waste a minute with them.

But this card that Jack and Ty made might be my favorite thing ever.
Could NOT stop laughing.

They even found a kid having his birthday there with cake and Chuck E singing, and joined right in like they were invited.

Could they be more excited!?
They even made up a spontaneous Best Friends Forever handshake that was to die for.

I might have been just as excited to see this girl as Kinley and Eden were to see each other.
Such a treat!
Move back please!!!

Went to the Well at my mom's church on Cinco de Mayo and busted out my Mexican dress from the Granbury square a few years ago and wore it to church. I just knew Danny would love it so Amy and I sent him a selfie :)

My favorite part of May was just having a chance to slow down a little after a busy time with work and be mom.
Sometimes I just look in the back of the car when we are running errands as a family and just pinch myself that these are my people. Sometimes I want to just sit and be thankful!

Summer started in May for this guy and we are trying to have a routine this summer where we work for screen time. Pretty much anything before ipads or TV. He needs to play outside first, do something creative, read books for the summer reading program, work on some math, writing, flash cards, scripture memory, Kinley has to practice piano...anything else first.
We will see how long it lasts.
But, I have got to say, this kid works hard. He actually likes the structure and learning. It is more a challenge for me to challenge him.
School and homework at home is NOT my calling or forte but, I don't want to be the bottleneck of his learning so I am stretching myself to challenge him.
It is hard!

Memorial Day Weekend

We spent our inaugural weekend at the lake for Memorial Day.
It was just a family weekend, which I love so much.
My mom came for a couple days but my dad was in Africa with the church and she left a little early when he got home from his trip.
I love, love having all the grandparents together.
I was really bad at taking pics this weekend and didn't even get one with my mom and the kids before she left.
But, that only means we were just living in the moment and having a great time!

It was a rainy weekend but, we did manage to get outside and get some sun and play in the lake.

Ty and Uncle Alex went fishing and Ty reeled in his own catfish and kissed it for luck before throwing it back in.

We have some new neighbors at the lake and they have a 7 year old girl named Addison and Kinley and Ty loved having a friend to play with!

Rainy days make for muddy shoes...but, they are so cute all lined up in a row after a bath.

Cannon's first lake trip...loved getting in some snuggles over the weekend.

It was all good and fun, and would have been the best, if not for the......FLEAS!
Somehow, all four of our dogs got fleas.
It was terrible.
We washed all the sheets, swept and vacuumed all surfaces, gave every dog multiple flea baths and then did it allllll again when we got home.
Vet visits for flea medicine, flea baths, washing, washing, washing.
It was pretty terrible.
Never again will I take my dog to the lake.
Anything to prevent the clean up of fleas again.
Anyway....I choose to forget that and remember the weekend like this....

My people.
Love them so.

We know Memorial Day is not about relaxing on the lake with family.
It is a day of remembrance for so many who have lost their lives fighting for our freedom.
We are so, so thankful for their sacrifice for us.
