We celebrated on the day of his birthday with just immediate family.
Bart and Olivia couldn't come this time because Olivia was just waiting around for sweet Evelyn to be born any minute.
But, uncle Matt-Matt could come this time!

Height - 44 3/4 inches (75%)

Things you LOVE

- You LOVE geography...specifically the United States. You know every state and where it goes in the US Map, you love to sing about the states, watch YouTube videos about states, do puzzles about the states, play games about the states, look at maps, learn their capitals, flags, everything about the states. You got a globe and multiple maps for your birthday because most people are aware of your geography love.
September 2016

- You love our chickens. You are the BEST chicken catcher, best egg retriever, best at herding chickens in the coop, and checking their food and water. It is a chore that I don't even think about much because you have got it down.

- You love math and want to learn math facts and play math games on the ipad and do flashcards when Kinley works on hers after school. You always ask me math questions, specifically addition, and count to the highest number you can and count by 2s, 5s, 10s, whatever. I don't know if this will always be something you like but, you enjoy it right now.

- You love KidsTube...specfically Ryan's Toy Review and EvanTubeHD.  If you get time on the ipad during rest time these are what you want to watch endlessly.  You get most of your ideas for playtime and ideas about what you want as gifts from these channels.

-You love your brother and sister.
You are Kinley's shadow when she is home. You follow her around, bug her like crazy, try to play with her and her friends, try to make her laugh, and just want to be right next to her. I know you will LOVE going to elementary school with her next year. For now, you just like riding in the car with dad in the morning to drop her off.

You are the sweetest big brother to Dylan too. He follows you, like you follow Kinley and you let him, just like she does. You praise him when he does something new, always want to get him a snack when you get yourself one, encourage him when he is struggling, and comfort him when he cries.
Now, sometimes you are the one that makes him cry.
It's not all love and rainbows.
But, mostly, you just have his back and let him be in your presence like he wants to be.

- You are still a momma's boy and I LOVE it. You crawl right into my lap every morning when you wake up. You still love to cuddle and hold my hand and give me kisses and hugs. You sometimes, out of no where, just say "Mommy, I love you!" and I melt where I stand.
Since you were a baby, I always tell you to "Look in my eyes, I have something important to tell you." Now you jump the gun and say it for me "I love you" with a big smile on your face.

-  For a little while this fall, we were a bit challenged by you. You were going through some kind of phase where you are exerting your own ideas and behavior.
You were testing limits and requiring some tough love and discipline.
Behavior in a structured setting was challenging and we really had to focus on what behavior is appropriate and what isn't.
You get a little too silly and disruptive and have been more aggressive than normal.
We are learning more impulse control.
We are learning who we spend our time with and what influence they have on you is very important.
We are learning to obey all authority figures the first time.
We are learning what it is like to suffer consequences of our actions multiple times until we quit those actions. (like no ipad for days on end, writing apology notes, sitting in your room for rest time and thinking about your behavior, missing out on activities with friends, extra chores, etc)

But, most of all, we are learning that we all make mistakes.
We all have sin.
We all miss the mark.
We all need a Savior.
And although this training and correction is TOUGH on a momma, it is also such a sweet opportunity to point you to Jesus.

How desperately we need a savior from our sinful nature.
How free his offer of grace and forgiveness is and how unworthy we are to receive it.
There is joy and new life and redemption and second, third, fourth....endless chances with Jesus.
And my prayer is that you know HIM.
That you remember your need for Him and how He is always there when you need him to help with self control, making a right choice, being kind.
He never leaves us.
What a truth worthy of PRAISE!

TyTy - you melt my heart.
I love you MORE than I could ever say. More than I ever dreamed I could love. You make me smile and laugh and beam with joy. You are the greatest GIFT. You are sunshine on a cloudy day and a light in our lives. I am beyond thankful for YOU. God has such a special plan for your life and I am thrilled to see what he does in and through you for His Kingdom.
Happy Birthday.  I love you sweet boy.

Ty & Dylan's 5th and 2nd Car Themed Pool Party

We had a joint birthday party for the boys this year between both of their birthdays.
My mom graciously mentioned to Ty one day that if he wanted a pool party he could have one at her house and he did not forget it.
He was so excited to have a pool party.

I wasn't going to really go for a theme at all until we went to dinner at Hwy55 one evening for dinner and the kids had those vintage car kids meals and both boys unanimously agreed they wanted a "car" theme.
Not really vintage, or racecar, or trucks, or the movie cars...just cars in general.

I did very little with the car theme except, of course, make a cardboard car cut out and order some car-theme inflatables to float in the pool.

But I DID force Mendy to make TWO car cakes... one for each boy.

Isn't she amazing!?!
IMG_9378

I went to Hwy55 and got some vintage car kids meal car boxes that inspired the party and hung some checkered flag bunting.

The kids could keep their vintage cardboard car and got a matchbox car for party favors.

For food, Ben grilled some hot dogs and we had chips and dip and veggies that could easily go into the kids meal cars.

We also charged up the power wheels for party entertainment fun too.
